The view from my window this morning.
I remember a couple of years ago, visiting a friend in Brooklyn one early spring evening. (It was towards the end of the March.) I was complaining about the cold, and he told me that around that time of year, New Yorkers made a sport of checking the weather, looking for signs that winter was coming to an end.
It’s only the second day of December, and I’m already checking temperatures multiple times per day. Not because I think winter will be over any time soon, but because if both high and low temperatures are projected to be above zero, I can do a little internal happy dance.
If they’re both projected to be below zero, as they are on Friday, well… I can pretend I’m living in Stockholm? Except that my phone tells me it’s -15 in Stockholm right now. (It hovered around -10 for the most part when I was there last year, though.)
